pick up 接電話。它相當(dāng)于answer the phne/ telephne。它是由“動詞＋副詞”構(gòu)成的短語，可接名詞或代詞作賓語，代詞作其賓語時，要用其賓格形式且必須放在pick與up中間。

過去進行時表示在過去某一時刻或某一段時間正在進行的動作。其基本結(jié)構(gòu)為“was/were+動詞-ing”。

主語 + was/were + v-ing+其他.
主語 + was/were + nt + v-ing+其他.

肯定回答：Yes, 主語+was/were.
否定回答：N, 主語+wasn't/weren't.

◆ 表示過去某一段時間內(nèi)一直進行的動作，常與the whle day, all day yesterday等時間狀語連用。有時沒有明顯的時間狀語，可根據(jù)上下文語境判斷。
◆ 表示過去某一時刻正在進行或發(fā)生的動作，與表示過去某一時間點的時間狀語連用，如at 3 'clck yesterday afternn, at this time yesterday等。

when和while都可意為“當(dāng)……時”，用來引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句，表示主句動作發(fā)生的背景。

◆ 延續(xù)性動詞指動作可以延續(xù)一段時間，而不是瞬間結(jié)束。

◆ while引導(dǎo)的時間狀語從句強調(diào)主句動作在從句動作進行的過程中發(fā)生，從句的謂語動詞必須為延續(xù)性動詞，常用進行時。
