世界貿易中心(Wrld Trade Center,美國紐約) 簡稱“世貿中心”,位于美國紐約曼哈頓島西南端,曾是紐約市最高、樓層最多的摩天大樓,為紐約市民乃至美國國民所自豪的地標建筑。 大樓于1966年開建,主體于1973年建成使用。 世貿大樓共110層,高達411米,是一個由兩座并立的塔式摩天樓(被稱作“雙子塔”)、4幢辦公樓和1幢旅館組成的建筑群。其主體南樓和北樓雙子塔采用鋼結構建筑,大樓墻面由鋁板和玻璃窗組成。在其遭受恐怖襲擊被摧毀之前,每年都吸引來自世界各地的無數游客前往參觀。 2001年9月11日,恐怖分子劫持兩架民航客機先后從不同方向撞向世貿中心的雙子塔樓,兩棟塔樓隨后相繼倒塌。
