There is/was no reason (for sb.) to do sth.意為“（某人）沒有理由做某事”。

2. They go out of their way to make me feel at home.
(1) go out of one’s way 意為“特地；格外努力”，后跟to do sth.。
他們想方設(shè)法為全體乘客服務(wù)。They go out of their way to serve all the passengers.她格外努力地學(xué)習(xí)英語。She goes out of her way to study English.

(2) make sb. feel at home意為“使某人感到賓至如歸”。

3. Another example is that you’re not supposed to eat anything with your hand except bread, not even fruit.
except作介詞，意為“除……之外”。表示把某人或某物從某一范圍內(nèi)排除出去，即except后的內(nèi)容不包含在內(nèi)。
