I’d like to congratulate all the students who are here today. 【解讀】 congratulate/k?n'ɡr?t?ule?t/v.祝賀常用短語(yǔ):congratulate on sb. 向某人祝賀congratulate sb.on sth.為某事向某人祝賀 其名詞為congratulation。Congratulations!常用于口語(yǔ)中,表示祝賀某人取得成功、成績(jī)等。e.g. We congratulated him on having passed the exam.我們祝賀他通過(guò)了考試。2.You were all so full of energy and thirsty for knowledge. 【解讀】 be thirsty for 渴望;渴求be thirsty for為固定短語(yǔ),其后可跟名詞、代詞或動(dòng)詞-ing形式作賓語(yǔ)。其中thirsty作形容詞,意為“渴望的”。【拓展延伸】thirsty作形容詞,還可意為“口渴的”。e.g. He is thirsty for making greater progress. A crow was thirsty and looked for water everywhere.3.I don’t need to tell you that life in senior high school will be harder and that you have many difficult tasks ahead of you.【解讀】ahead 是副詞,意為“向前面;在前面”,常用ahead of 結(jié)構(gòu),表示“(在空間或時(shí)間上比某人或某事)更早,更前或比……更先進(jìn),領(lǐng)先”,還常用于go ahead表示“前進(jìn);先走;開(kāi)始吧”。e.g. He left one day ahead of me.他比我早一天離開(kāi)。He is ahead of me in English.他的英語(yǔ)比我強(qiáng)。The work was done ahead of time.工作提前完成了。4.As you set out on your new journey,you shouldn’t forget where you came from. 【解讀】set out on something開(kāi)始進(jìn)行新的或重要的事情 set out 出發(fā);啟程【拓展】 set out還表示“著手……,開(kāi)始……”的意思,常用于set out to do sth.結(jié)構(gòu),表示“著手做某事”。e.g. The train will set out in two hours.火車(chē)將在兩個(gè)小時(shí)后出發(fā)。They set out to perform the operation.他們開(kāi)始動(dòng)手術(shù)。He is setting out to write a novel.他正著手寫(xiě)一本小說(shuō)。5.It is always hard to separate from those whom you have spent so much time with for the past three years. 【解讀】whom引導(dǎo)的是定語(yǔ)從句,修飾先行詞those,whom在定語(yǔ)從句中作spent的賓語(yǔ)。 separate/'sep?r?t/adj.單獨(dú)的;分離的 /'sep?re?t/v.分開(kāi);分離separate…from…表示“將……與……分開(kāi)”,指把原來(lái)連在一起或接近的部分分隔開(kāi)來(lái)。 e.g. This is the man whom I talk with.這就是我和他談話(huà)的那個(gè)人。This patient should be separated from the others.這個(gè)病人應(yīng)該隔離。【辨析】 separate… from…,divide… into…
