1. (unit 1)非限制性定語從句

2. (unit 1)強調句結構

3. (unit 2)獨立主格結構
The respnse frm a publisher cmes back and the writer eagerly pens and reads it, their hearts sinking when they reach that final sentence.
分析:their hearts sinking 為“名詞+現(xiàn)在分詞”,構成獨立主格結構,在句中作結果狀語,獨立主格不是一個句子,在邏輯關系上構成主謂關系或者主表關系。
獨立主格概念:由名詞或代詞加上分詞、不定式、名詞、形容詞、副詞、介詞短語等構成的一種形式,用于修飾整個句子。這種結構在句中常常作狀語,可以表示時間、原因、條件、伴隨等,常用逗號與句子分隔。
翻譯:出版商給了回信,作家急切地拆開來讀,但讀到這最后一句,心隨之跌入谷底。

4. (unit 2) nly倒裝用法
Only when darkness had again descended upn me shuld I realize hw much I had left unseen.
分析:nly倒裝句結構為:當Only后面加 “介詞短語、副詞以及狀語從句”,位于句首時,句子進行部分倒裝,即將助動詞、系動詞、情態(tài)動詞提前,然后加主語,再加其他成分。句中,nly+when引導的時間狀語從句,位于句首時,主句情態(tài)動詞shuld提前,然后加主語I, 再加其他成分。
翻譯:只有當黑暗再次降臨在我身上時,我才意識到我留下了多少看不見的東西。

7. (unit 4) with 復合結構

分析:句中謂語動詞為were said, 不定式t have visited…為賓語。be said t have dne 表示“據(jù)說已經發(fā)生”,不定式的完成時,表示動作發(fā)生在謂語動詞之前。sb. /sth. is/was said t have dne= it is/was said that sb./sth….
翻譯:亞歷山大和馬可波羅據(jù)說已經在印度看見過這樣一顆樹。
例句:He was said t have given up smking fr mnths. = It was said that he had given up smking fr mnths.

9. (unit 6) since 表示“自從…”
The train has been racing alng steadily since it left Xining.
分析:since既可以做介詞,也可以做連詞,表示“自從…”,since后面既可以加時間名詞,也可以加謂語動詞為過去時的句子,而句子部分或主句部分時態(tài)用現(xiàn)在完成時。此句中的從句部分,謂語動詞為left,表示過去的時間,主句用現(xiàn)在完成進行時,表示動作從過去到現(xiàn)在持續(xù)不斷,可能未來還要繼續(xù)下去的動作。

10. (unit 6) 不定式對序數(shù)詞的修飾限制

After many tries, finally, the cane was finished.
